It is worthwhile for anyone to have behind him a few generations of honest, hard-working ancestry.

Nathaniel Sims (1794-1868) - Occupation Description

In the early 19th century, Nathaniel Sims was a farmer in North Carolina.  The majority of white families were "yoeman farmers."  They owned their own small farms, and occassionally had a slave or two.  Most of their efforts were to build up the farm, and feed their families, with a little surplus sold on the market in order to pay taxes and buy necessities.
