These are some of my favorite sites for genealogy research.  I hope you will find them helpful.

 

A searchable database with birth, marriage, death, census, & family trees for the United States and England.  There is a fee for membership.

 

A free searchable database compiled by the Church of Latter Day Saints.  It includes U.S. and international records, family trees, and research help.

 

A free searchable database that contains transcriptions and images of graves for cemeteries in the United States and throughout the world.

 

Free for everyone to use and meant to be a starting point when researching online.  It contains a categorized and cross-referenced index to genealogical resources on the internet.

 

Allows users free access to on-line books.  This site contains the books, The Genealogy of the Sims Family of Virginia, the Carolinas and the Gulf States by Henry Upson Sims and Adam Symes and his Descendants by Jane Morris.

 

A free searchable database organized by county and state.  Provides links to state genealogy websites which provide gateways to the counties.

 

A free site to research emigration, immigration and naturalization.  Contains passenger ship types, descriptions and images, and additional worldwide maritime information.

 

This is a free site that allows users to search for medical terminology.  It is very useful for explaining the meaning of an ancestor's cause of death.

 

This free site is helpful to those beginning their research.  It provides state and county genealogy resources as well as research tips and historical data.
