Cabarrus County Register of Deeds Remote Access Site

This is an official site.  It is a compilation of real estate records with an index and images of the original records.  Access to the database is free and includes a search engine.

 

Cabarrus Genealogy Society

The goal of this organization is to instill in the community a sense of pride regarding their family history and promote the exchange of genealogical information.  It also encourages the collection and preservation of historical documents.  There is a modest membership fee.

 

Mecklenburg County, North Carolina

This page contains facts about the history of Mecklenburg County, the availability of vital records, and genealogy links pertaining to the area.  This is not the official Mecklenburg County government site.

 

Mecklenburg County Register of Deeds Web Access

An index with dates and some images of birth, death, marriage, and land records are provided for free on this site.  It also has a search engine and information for ordering copies of documents including prices.

 

North Carolina Digital Collections

This is a compilation of state government publications, manuscripts, and photographs from the State Archives of North Carolina and the State Library of North Carolina.  The collection is free and the text is fully searchable.

 

North Carolina Genealogical Society

This organization provides educational programs and publications.  It acquaints members with research sources and materials and promotes the exchange of genealogical information.  There is a modest membership fee.

 

North Carolina GenWeb

As part of the USGenWeb Project, this site contains genealogical and historical data for each of North Carolina's 100 counties.  It is maintained by volunteers and is completely free.

 

Olde Mecklenburg Genealogical Society

The society's main goal is to promote the collection, publication, and preservation of genealogical or historical documents.  It also provides educational programs and workshops.  There is a modest membership fee.

There are numerous resources available to those researching their North Carolina families.  Websites, state archives, and libraries can provide valuable information.  There are also many local genealogical organizations that offer educational workshops and assistance.  This compilation is only intended to be a starting point for researchers.

I am the great-great-great granddaughter of Nathaniel Sims.  This website contains information about his life and details of his descendants.   Nathaniel Sims was born about 1794 in Wake County, North Carolina.  He was a farmer and also Justice of the Peace.  Nathaniel had five children with his first wife, Prudence Killough: James Anderson Sims, Rebecca Sue Sims, Samuel Killough Sims, Prudence N. Sims and Harriate Sims. He had three children by his second wife, Mary A. Morrison: Ann Mozelle Sims, Nathaniel McCamie Sims, and William M. Sims.  Nathaniel Sims passed away on 1 September 1968 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina.  Some of his descendants continue living in North Carolina today.
